Open Skills Education (OSE™)

Open Skills Education (OSE™) is a global skills equity framework

Barista Mtaani Advocate Program (BMAP)

Not all of us can fit on the World Barista Championship stage — but all of us, as youth, can become champions of Good Trade in our communities.

At Kenya Coffee School (KCS™), we believe that coffee is more than a beverage; it is a bridge between farmers, youth, and the planet. Through the Barista Mtaani Advocate Program (BMAP), we are nurturing a new generation of Coffee Advocates — young people who understand that true success in coffee comes not only from brewing excellence, but from advocating fairness, protecting the environment, and supporting farmer-centred value chains.

🌍 About BMAP

The Barista Mtaani Advocate Program (BMAP) is a noble, community-based course that trains youth in:

  • Coffee advocacy and climate action
  • Farmer-centric trade and value chain ethics
  • Environmental sustainability and circular economy principles
  • Community leadership and storytelling through coffee

BMAP is a movement — not just a course — designed to ensure that every cup of coffee brewed in Kenya contributes to:

  • Farmer prosperity
  • Youth empowerment
  • Climate and environmental protection

🎓 Our Goal

To equip young baristas, traders, and community leaders with the voice, vision, and skills to become:

Coffee Citizens — agents of GOOD Trade, dignity, and sustainability.

💡 Why It Matters

In a world where global competitions only recognize a few, BMAP recognizes everyone.
Every youth who learns to:

  • Support farmers,
  • Protect the environment, and
  • Advocate for fairness,

becomes a Champion of Change in their community — a true Barista Mtaani Advocate / Ambassador.
