Speech for the Launch of the Coffee Farmers Party (CFP)
Ladies and gentlemen, distinguished guests, fellow farmers, youth, women, leaders, and friends of Kenya’s coffee sector —
Good morning.
Today is not just the launch of a political party.
Today is the rebirth of hope for millions of Kenyan farmers whose voices have been ignored for far too long.
Today we declare, boldly and without apology, that the era of farmer-centered leadership has begun.
Why We Are Here
For decades, coffee has been the pride of Kenya.
It has carried our nation’s name to every corner of the world.
Yet the same farmers who grow this world-class coffee remain poor, neglected, and voiceless.
A sector worth billions continues to benefit everyone except the farmer — from brokers, to cartels, to broken cooperative systems, to unaccountable leadership and policies that change with every season.
That ends today.
The Birth of the Coffee Farmers Party
The Coffee Farmers Party is not born from politics.
It is born from pain, from frustration, and from the determination of farmers, baristas, youth innovators, and coffee communities who have decided:
If we are not at the table, we will build our own table.
CFP is a movement of producers, processors, youth, and entrepreneurs who want a future defined not by poverty, but by ownership, dignity, value addition, and economic justice.
We are here to say:
- That the farmer deserves the highest share of their coffee earnings.
- That youth deserve opportunities in agritech, café culture, and coffee tourism.
- That Kenya must move from exporting raw beans to exporting value, brands, and excellence.
- That the future of coffee must be transparent, digital, sustainable, and farmer-led.
Our Vision
We envision a Kenya where:
- A farmer’s child can go to school because the harvest paid fairly.
- Youth can build global coffee careers—from barista to founder to exporter.
- Counties grow strong value chains and create thousands of rural jobs.
- Coffee is not a story of poverty but a story of pride.
Our Core Message
Ladies and gentlemen,
CFP believes that the wealth of Kenya must first uplift the people who produce it.
We stand for:
- Agrarian Democracy
- Farmer-centered governance
- Digital and transparent coffee systems
- Women and youth empowerment
- Sustainable and climate-smart agriculture
- Fair trade that is truly fair — not on paper, but in the pocket of the farmer
To the Youth
The future of coffee is not in sacks sent abroad.
It is in cafés, in roasting companies, in tech startups, in branding, in e-commerce, and in global specialty markets.
We invite the youth:
Come. This is your moment. This is your industry. This is your chance.
To the Farmers
From Kirinyaga to Kisii, from Meru to Murang’a, from Bungoma to Embu —
Your voice is finally here.
Your party is here.
Your power is here.
Your future begins today.
Our Call to Action
Today we launch a political movement built on truth, integrity, value, and courage.
We ask every farmer, every youth, every cooperative, every coffee worker, every barista, every entrepreneur:
Join us.
Walk with us.
Stand with us.
Let us build a Kenya where the farmer is not an afterthought but the foundation of national prosperity.
Conclusion
As we raise the flag of the Coffee Farmers Party today, we are not just starting a party.
We are starting a revolution —
A revolution of dignity, of fairness, of empowerment, and of economic transformation.
Let history record that on this day, farmers decided to shape their own destiny.
May God bless our farmers.
May God bless the Coffee Farmers Party.
May God bless Kenya.
Thank you.
