The Kenya School of Civic Revolution (KSCR) is not for profit, non-partisan, none political, grassroots-driven grassroots training institution dedicated to nurturing a new generation of civic leaders, empowering citizens, and advocating for social justice and democratic accountability across Kenya.
The Founder
The institution was founded and is led by Alfred Gitau Mwaura, who serves as the Executive Director. He brings over 20 years of experience as a human rights defender, constitutional advocacy expert, Good Governance Leadership and a UN Scholar. Under his leadership, the organization focuses on stripping away structural barriers to civic literacy and ensuring that communities are empowered from the ground up to create measurable, positive change.
Core Programs and Pillars of Work
KSCR translates its vision of a civic revolution through practical, innovative immersive educational paths designed to move citizens from passive observation to proactive, ethical leadership:
- Civic Academy: A cornerstone 6-week intensive training program that demystifies Kenya’s Constitution, unmasks local governance structures, and provides direct strategies for civic engagement.
- Community Organizing: Hand-on training in grassroots mobilization, coalition building, and strategic campaign mapping tailored for local change-makers.
- Youth Leadership: A flagship incubator for young Kenyans aged 18–33, centered on fostering critical thinking, ethical frameworks, and civic agency.
- Digital Democracy: Equipping advocates with methods to leverage digital tools like AI Big Data Open Data, Blockchain etc for increased transparency, government accountability, and secure data-driven citizen participation.
- Advocacy, Justice & Equity: Focuses on transitional justice, cross-ethnic solidarity, and practical methodologies to help communities lobby legislators and influence policy at both the county and national levels.

Operating from its campus in Ridgeways, Nairobi, KSCR has developed an extensive footprint across the country:
- 12,400+ citizens trained.
- Active presence and community outreach spanning all 47 counties.
- Over 350 grassroots community projects successfully catalyzed (including localized community initiatives for basic needs like resource access and municipal accountability).
- Collaborations with a network of over 100 partner organizations.
