The Food Handlers Training program by Kenya Coffee School (KCS™) equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to maintain high food safety standards in hospitality, cafés, restaurants, and street food operations.
The program emphasizes practical hygiene, food safety compliance, and disease prevention, ensuring every participant meets both national and county health regulations.
🕓 Program Duration
- Standard Course: 2 Days (12–14 hours total)
- Advanced Level (Supervisors / Managers): 3–5 Days
- Certification Validity: 2 Years (Renewable)

📈 Advanced Level: Supervisory & Café Manager Training
For supervisors and café managers, additional topics include:
- Designing and implementing food safety management systems (FSMS)
- Conducting internal hygiene audits
- Training and supervising staff on hygiene
- Record-keeping and compliance with county public health inspections
🌱 Integration with Barista Mtaani™
Through Barista Mtaani, the Food Handlers course is extended to youth in local communities, equipping mobile coffee vendors and micro-entrepreneurs with professional food safety knowledge.
This ensures that every Barista Mtaani operator not only serves great coffee but also guarantees safe, hygienic, and compliant service.

💬 Trainer Qualifications
- Certified Food Safety Officer or Public Health Officer
- TVET-accredited trainer with KCS™ instructional certification
- Industry experience in hospitality or coffee service
