Trained by Kenya Coffee School (KCS) and Other International Universities.

The Specialty Coffee & Agroecology Course is a unique program designed by Kenya Coffee School (KCS) to merge two vital disciplines: the art and science of specialty coffee, and the principles of agroecology for sustainable farming systems. The course empowers learners with hands-on barista and coffee knowledge, while also grounding them in regenerative agricultural practices that protect biodiversity, soil health, and the future of coffee.


  • History, origins, and varieties of coffee.
  • Introduction to coffee processing methods.
  • Cupping, sensory analysis, and quality grading.
  • Brewing methods: espresso, pour-over, French press, moka pot, and more.
  • Barista skills: grinding, extraction, milk texturing, latte art, and service.
  • Principles of agroecology and regenerative agriculture.
  • Coffee as part of biodiversity and agri-food systems.
  • Soil health, water management, and natural pest control.
  • Climate resilience strategies for coffee farming.
  • Linking farmers to sustainable markets and value chains.

  • Hands-on practicals with specialty coffee equipment and brewing kits.
  • Field visits to coffee farms practicing agroecology.
  • Workshops and group projects linking farm-to-cup knowledge.
