The Inspiration
Born into a family connected to education, agriculture, and community service, Alfred grew up understanding two important truths:
- Kenya produces some of the world’s finest coffee.
- Most Kenyans know very little about the value and opportunities hidden within their own coffee industry.
As he traveled, studied, worked, and interacted with coffee professionals across different countries, he witnessed something remarkable:
Countries consuming coffee were creating enormous value through skills, roasting, branding, hospitality, tourism, and innovation.
Meanwhile, many coffee-producing communities remained disconnected from these opportunities.
This realization became the foundation of a lifelong mission:
“If coffee can transform economies around the world, then coffee can transform lives in Kenya too.”
The Birth of Kenya Coffee School
Kenya Coffee School was founded as a practical response to a simple question:
How do we connect people to opportunity through coffee?
The answer was education.
Not traditional education alone.
But practical, industry-driven, hands-on learning that could prepare young people, farmers, entrepreneurs, professionals, and communities for real careers and businesses.
