“Unea 7 espresso on the move” refers to the Kenya Coffee School & Barista Mtaani collaboration at the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7) in Nairobi, Kenya, featuring a pop-up cart serving specialty Kenyan coffee by trained youth baristas, educating global leaders on climate-smart farming, ethical sourcing, and youth empowerment, turning every cup into a conversation about sustainability and action for a greener future.

Key Aspects of the Project:

  • Partnership: A collaboration between Kenya Coffee School and Barista Mtaani.
  • Location: Hosted at UNEA-7, the world’s highest-level environmental decision-making body, happening in Nairobi.
  • Mission: To showcase Kenya’s coffee culture, youth skills, and the vital link between coffee, farmers, and climate action.
  • “Classroom Without Walls”: The coffee cart serves as an interactive learning space, educating visitors on the climate story behind their coffee.
  • Youth Empowerment: Young, trained baristas teach practical skills and connect attendees with sustainable practices.
  • Impact: A simple coffee cart becomes a bridge for dialogue on environmental solutions, proving sustainability can be delicious and inspiring.

In essence, it’s a mobile demonstration of how local initiatives and youth-led efforts can drive global conversations on environmental resilience, using Kenyan coffee as a tangible example.
